Label finishes
Die-cutting
Die-cutting is a necessary part of finishing, as it is otherwise difficult to separate the label from the base, even if it is cut into a format. A die-cutting tool is required for this procedure. If you choose a label dimension that has not yet been in the set of our standard dimensions, it is necessary to order a die-cutting tool specifically for this dimension; which is also true in the case of special label shapes. The maximum width of the cut label is 305 mm and the maximum length is 630 mm. In cases where the label is not printed to the very edges, the label tape can be cut only transversely to the length and cut longitudinally. Thus, the cost of the cutting tool is eliminated.
Varnishing
Varnish serves on one hand for additional protection of the colour from rubbing and minor surface damage, and on the other hand also to provide a special visual effect. You can choose between the glossy and matte look of the varnish. In some cases, varnish is also suitable for protection from moisture and mild detergents.
Screen printing
It is a printing technique that enables thick-layer applications of colour or varnish. It is intended either to achieve special effects and apply special colours and/or other coatings. For its implementation, the manufacture of a screen printing mesh is needed.
Embossing
Embossing is a finishing technique where in certain places the material is raised to create a three-dimensional structure. Thus, it is possible to touch the logo, pattern, etc. on the label itself. For this process, a special tool is required, that we order based on the contour file, which outlines the raised spots.
Cold or hot gold stamping
- Gold stamping is primarily intended to achieve a special visual effect, and a production of a cliché is necessary for its implementation.
- Various shades of film are available:
- gold,
- silver,
- metallic,
- matte,
- glossy
- and more.
Cutting into sheets
When you need labels for individual gluing or attaching to the product, it is more practical to have them in sheets for easier handling.
This is done with the help of a cutting machine, where the labels in the roll can be formatted into sheets of any dimensions.
Lamination
With additional label lamination, we achieve greater mechanical strength, compactness and better protection against mechanical damage. You can choose between different types depending on the visual effect (gloss, matte or “soft touch”) and different lamination thicknesses. It also effectively protects the labels against various chemicals, detergents, solvents and grease.
Winding on a cardboard core
- Printed and processed labels need to be wound on a spool at the end. To do this, we need the following information:
- the number of labels on one roll;
- the inner diameter of the core;
- the outer diameter of the label roll;
- direction of the label winding (see attached sketch).
- All the information is especially important in the case of machine labelling, as it is necessary to adapt the label roll to the labelling device.
