WHAT ARE COOKIES AND HOW WE USE THEM
WHAT ARE COOKIES?
Cookies are text files that store the websites preferences. Websites store cookies on users' devices which they use to access the internet, in order to identify individual devices and the settings users have used to access them. Cookies allow websites to recognise if a user has already visited that website and, in the case of advanced applications, they can be used to adjust individual settings according to the user's preferences. Their storage is under full control of the browser used by the user who can restrict or block the storage of cookies if they wish.
Cookies do not contain any information which could be used to identify your identity. By using cookies, the server knows that you have returned to the website, which we can use to customize the site for the user.
Most browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you do not want to receive them, or you want to be notified before the cookies is uploaded on your computer, you can specify this in your browser settings.
WHY ARE COOKIES NEEDED?
Cookies are essential for providing user-friendly internet services; the most common e-commerce functions would not be possible without cookies. Cookies make the interaction between the web user and the website faster and easier. They help the website to remember your preferences and experiences, making browsing more efficient and enjoyable. There are several reasons for using cookies. They are used to store information about the status of a particular website (details of personalisation of a particular website), to assist in the provision of internet services (e.g. online shops), to help in collecting statistic data relating to users and website traffic, the website users' habits, etc. Cookies can therefore be used to evaluate the effectiveness of our website design. For more information on the recommended and permitted use of cookies on websites, you can also read the Information Commissioner's Guidelines on the use of cookies, which can be found here.
If you already have cookies stored on your browser, these cookies will remain after you reject them, however no new cookies will be stored. Once the cookies expire, they will be removed.
